Corrective Jaw Surgery
Corrective jaw surgery is performed to correct a wide range of minor and major skeletal and dental irregularities, and the misalignment of jaws and teeth. This surgery can improve breathing, chewing and speaking.
Some of the conditions that may indicate the need for corrective jaw surgery are:
- Difficulty chewing or biting food
- Difficulty in swallowing
- Chronic jaw or jaw joint (TMJ) pain and headaches
- Unbalanced facial appearance from the front or side
- Facial injury
- Chronic mouth breathing
- Sleep apnea
Dr. Garin and Dr. Litman will work with you to determine whether you are a candidate for corrective jaw surgery. It is also important to understand that the treatment may probably take several years to complete. We understand this is a long-term commitment for you and your family, and we will try to realistically estimate the time required for your treatment.
